FIND YOUR PROPERFRAME SIZE

STEP 1: FIND OUT THE INSEAM/INSIDE LEG

Besides your body height, another measurement is crucial to selecting the proper frame size: your personal inseam/inside leg. Depending on the desired bike type, the inseam/inside leg is the basis for an approximate calculation leading to the correct frame height for your dream bike. This is how it works:

Please stand with your back against a wall – barefoot. Your heels should touch the wall while your knees are straight and your pelvic area is positioned towards the ground in a linear (paraxial) way. The inseam/inside leg can be determined best by pulling a water level horizontally and as highly as possible into your crotch – the distance between the level’s upper edge and the ground is then measured via an inch or centimetre rule. If a water level is not available, you can also carry out the analysis by using a book which is flush with the wall on one side. In all cases, measuring the inseam/inside leg works best with the help of a partner.

STEP 2: CALCULATE THE PROPER FRAME HEIGHT

Based on a correctly measured inseam/inside leg, the proper frame height (individually different for each bike type) can be defined with an approximate calculation: The measured numerical value in centimetres is now multiplied by a certain factor (different for each bike category). The result is the frame size in inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). In a few cases, the measured size will match exactly with the one offered by the manufacturer. Thus the following applies:

1. For an athletic riding style, please select the smaller frame size.
2. For a more relaxed seating position, please select the larger frame size.

FRAME-SIZE CALCULATIONFull Suspension

For the correct frame size of a full-suspension bike, please multiply the inseam/inside leg by 0.225.

Example: 79 cm x 0.225 = 17.775
Thus the optimal frame height would be about 18“/46 cm.

For this example, you would choose a 17” bike for an athletic riding style; a 19” version has a comparatively “tourier” character.

FRAME-SIZE CALCULATIONMTB Hardtails

For the correct frame size of an MTB hardtail, please multiply the inseam/inside leg by 0.226.

Example: 79 cm x 0.226 = 17.854
Thus the optimal frame height would be about 18“/46 cm.

For this example, you would choose a 17” bike for an athletic riding style; a 19” version has a comparatively “tourier” character.

FRAME-SIZE CALCULATIONRoad & Cyclo Cross

For the correct frame size of a road or cyclo-cross bike, please multiply inseam/inside leg by 0.635.
In this case, the result is the theoretical value of the frame height in centimetres.

Example: 79 cm x 0.635 = 50.165
Thus the optimal frame height would be about 52 cm.

FRAME-SIZE CALCULATIONCross Bikes

For the correct frame size of a cross bike, please multiply the inseam/inside leg by 0.259.

Example: 79 cm x 0.259 = 20.461
Thus the optimal frame height would be about 20“/52 cm.

Note: In case of suspended seatposts, please subtract 5 cm from the theoretical value.
